Using a Drill Chuck Arbor

A Drill chuck arbor is used to mount a Jacob tapered drill chuck to a Morse tapered machine spindle. The precision-ground body of the arbor ensures a close fit and firm clamping of the components.

Morse and Jacob tapers are forms of a shallow taper which are self-locking in nature used to interlock two components having complementary tapers. Once the male taper is pushed into the female cone, the wedging action of the angle and the frictional forces hold the two pieces together.
