What is a CNC revolving centre?

CNC Revolving centres are typically used for supporting long workpieces rotating at high speeds of upto 4500 rpm. They are mounted onto the tailstock by means of their morse tapered shank and prevent the workpiece from leaning due to its own weight or deflecting due to the cutting forces acting upon it. Unlike dead centres they are capable of rotating smoothly along with the work because of their bearing assembly thus reducing the frictional forces and the need for external lubrication. 

Point selection

Akros live centres come loaded with a 60° stub point for standard lathe operations. However, different points for various applications can be provided on request.

  • Carbide point: Provides higher wear resistance and durability.
  • Extended point: Allows greater tool clearance for operations on the workpiece
